|UII Rector Becomes Invited Speaker in International Conference on Islamic Leadership 2011|

UII Rector Prof Dr Edy Suandi Hamid was an invited speaker in International Conference on Islamic Leadership (ICIL) on October 4-5. The International conference was held by University Islam Sains Malaysia (USIM) at The Royale Chulan Hotel, Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. UII Rector came to Kuala Lumpur due to the invitation from University Islam Sains Malaysia. This invitation was an implementation of the cooperation between UII and USIM after the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on July 2011.
In this conference, UII Rector delivered presentation with theme ‘Enhancing Islamic Leadership in the Globalised World’. In his presentation, Prof Dr Edy Suandi Hamid emphasized that the Muslim Countries had no power in against the attack from secular countries since there was lack of coordination between Muslim Countries. “In solving this problem, we need to build leadership character as the leadership character of our Prophet Muhammad.” He stated.
Furthermore, he explained that in order to enhance Islamic leadership, Moslem countries had to actively take part in international politics and the global community, reduce poverty in the Moslem countries, and improve education quality based on Islamic values toward young generations and the future leaders.
In conjunction with International Conference on Islamic Leadership (ICIL 2011), there was ceremonial dinner which attended by Former Prime Minister of Malaysia, YA Bhg Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamed. In this occasion, Dr. Mahathir Mohamed delivered speech with theme “The Impact of Middle East and Northern African Crisis: A Lesson to Muslim Countries.”
