| 551 UII Students Take Part in ESQ Training |

This ESQ training was the 4th batch ESQ training, 2011/2012 academic year conducted by UII. 551 UII students attended this ESQ training which was held Saturday untill Sunday (14-15 January 2012), at Abdul Kahar Muzakkir Auditorium UII main campus, Jl. Kaliurang Km. 14,5. This event presented the trainer from ESQ Leadership Center. On this occasion,UII Vice Rector III, Ir. Bachnas, M.Sc who also led the Department of Students Affair mentioned that ESQ training is one of the new student development programs. Though there are several student development programs which have been conducted by UII such as LKID, ONDI, and BTAQ. The objective of the student deveopment program including ESQ training is to encourage students as well as to improve student’s competence. By conducting ESQ Training, Ir. Bachnas expected Islamic University of Indonesia can implement UII mission to nurture scholars and national leaders with good ethical conduct and integrity. Meanwhile, UII Rector, Prof. Dr. Edy Suandi Hamid, M.Ec who also attends this event, stressed out that the students have to implement the important knowledge obtained from ESQ trainer on their daily life. “The ESQ program has been conducted by UII in order to improve student quality and competence. Thus we need to be grateful since there are still view amount of students in Indonesia who take part in ESQ training” Rector said. Nowadays, added by Prof. Edy Suandi, Government has promoted character education program for higher education institutions. UII itself has announced this character development program by conducting extracurricular activity for UII students namely ONDI, LKID and BTAQ. “If the character development program can be implemented, surely it will become a great contribution for this nation. For instance, it can suppress the corruption scandal in our country. As we know that, the corruption among our society is caused by inadequate moral instructions in families and school.” Prof. Edy added. Moreover, Prof. Edy Suandi, also urged the students to be disciplined, hard worked, and visionary. It is expected that they become the excellent graduates who possess both excellent academic achievement and outstanding character. |
