| UII Civil Engineering Alumni Speak at Public Lecture |

Miftahul Fauziah, S.T.M.T.PhD, Secretary of Civil Engineering Department stated that Civil Engineering Department, UII have nurtured many scholars who are now becoming successful alumni and experts. She also added that the objective of this event was to encourage students by inviting alumnae of civil engineering to share their experiences. “Several times ago, UII civil engineering students awarded as 1st winner at miniature bridge building competition held by Universitas Muslim Indonesia Makassar.” Miftahul Fauziah said. In his presentation, Satya Priambodo mentioned his experiences while building bridges at Sumatra, Riu, Jambi, Palembang, and many others. According to him, bridge and highway are needed to improve all aspect of regional development including economic, farming, agriculture, animal husbandry, fishing, industry, tourism, mining and to expand interregional social interaction and to support governmental administrative activities, social-political activities, and others. He also explained further that in Indonesia there are many rivers, islands, and straits becoming a hard challenge for developing region. Thus, it is important to build infrastructures such as highway and bridges to accelerate regional development. Meanwhile, Dr. Eddy Wahyudi, S.T, M.M in his speech explained further about the development of property market and property management business in Indonesia. He stated that the metropolitan area with many number of skycrapers buildings become potential market to conduct property management business. Still according to Eddy, property management has overall responsibility including office buildings and shopping mall part of the property, construction, repair and maintenance, as well as audits all types of operating procedures, security. Thus, it is essential to employ professionals working at property management business. In addition, property management business also takes a role in managing properties to increase property values becoming property investment. “Regarding the growth of property management business, the availability of professional scholars is really needed to take over this business.” Eddy stated.
