Library is center of knowledge or even called as the ‘brain’ of an educational institution. It is a place where we can find reference book as well as scientific literature of many disciplines. This statement was revealed by UII Vice Rector III, Ir. Bachnas, M.Sc., while opening workshop on ‘Research Methodology’ held by the Directorate of Library UII, at Moh. Hatta Building, Saturday (4/7).
Acting as a speaker, lecturer at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, Sri Rohyanti Zulaikha, S.Ag., SIP, M.Sc., explained about reach topic for library professional. The next session was a presentation from Director of Directorate of Library, Dr. Ir. Farham HM. Saleh, MSIE, with the materials Research Methodology for Librarian.
Meanwhile, in his speech, Ir. Bachnas conveyed that the existence of the library can not be separated from the active role of the librarians. Therefore, a librarian should not be determined as a bookkeeper. They must be aware with the presence of books at the library. “Therefore, a librarian is also urged to be a researcher.” He emphasized.
Still according to Ir. Bachnas, a researcher may have a great curiosity in any matters ignored by some people. They would respond that matters by creating new idea. A researcher was supposed to be careful in analyzing to maintain validity of the research.
On the other hand, Dr. Ir. Farham, said further that it is necessary to nurture outstanding human resources as well as sophisticated IT systems at Directorate of Library in the future. Moreover, UII library was expected to work along with libraries of other institutions.
