Prof. Edy Suandi Hamid acting as speaker on this seminar also mentioned several roles and contributions of Prof. Sardjito as the former Rector at Universitas Islam Indonesia. Prof. Edy also said that in 1963, Prof. Sardjito was elected as rector. Under his leadership, UII made significant progress in various aspects. "In his period, UII expanded the reach of the university by establishing branches faculties, enhanced education quality improvement, expansion of branch UII, developed its institution, and others," He uttered. Still according to Rector, Prof. Sardjito also has played important role in developing our nation by engaging in Boedi Oetomo organization, Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) and many others. Prof. Edy also explained that the figure of Prof. Sardjito was a knowledgeable man who had attention and courisity in various fields. “Moreover, he who had been making untiring efforts for better Indonesia deserves title of National Hero”. Prof. Edy emphasized The seminar was also attended by Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X who also became keynote speaker delivering a brief explanation concerning this issue proposing Prof. Sardjito as National Hero. Also presenting as the speaker at this seminar were Prof. Dr. Djoko Suryo (FIB UGM), Prof. Dr. Hari Kusnanto, SU., Dr. PH (FK UGM), Prof. DR. Dr. KRT Adi Heru Sutomo, M.Sc., D.Com. In Indonesian education, Prof. Dr. Sardjito as Indonesian education leader can not be forgotten. He has contributed many efforts and thought in managing and improving education in Indonesia. Moreover, his active roles in participating in various fields can not be doubted. Hence, the title of national hero was deserved to him. This statement was conveyed by UII Rector, Prof. Dr. Edy Suandi Hamid, M.Ec while giving his speak at regional seminar titled ‘Proposing Prof. Dr. Sardjito, MD., MPH. as National Hero. Located at
