Early childhood age is an effective age for engrafting moral values​​ and teaching children to love environment. Environmental education needs to be promoted at this early year. Thus, future generations would be aware of how to treat the environment properly. "From this reason, we involve elementary school students to join this socialization activity. We expect this activity can raise awareness of community towards the environment". This statement was conveyed by Any Juliany, M.Sc, Director of Centre for Environmental Studies (PSL) UII while commemorating earth days at SD Panasan Sleman, Saturday (28/04).

In this occasion, many activities were featured such as telling story performed by Kak Daryanto, cans decorating contest, drawing contest, poetry writing contest, tree planting activity and litter bins provision for school. The students enthusiastically engaged in following all the series of events especially while they were watching telling story performed by Kak Daryanto.

The Principal of SD. Panasan, Sukatmi highly appreciated this activity. She also delivered his gratitude to Centre for Environmental Studies (PSL) UII for conducting this event. "Getting involved in this activity, students can get a lot of experiences and learn with fun "she said.

This event ended with environmental film screening and prizes distribution. The committee also asked the winner of poetry writing to read their poetry in front of the audiences. The winner got applause from the audiences.

Meanwhile, Aji, fourth grade teacher was proud of their student’s poems. "I am satisfied with this result. Being participants in this contest, we can know our student’s capability". He said.
