Celebrating the 69th Dies Natalis, UII to Hold Fun Bike E-mail

ImageTo enliven the 69th Dies Natalis of Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII), UII Alumni Association Board (DPW IKA) UII will hold a fun bike on Sunday, July 7, 2012. The organizers said that this event will involve 15 thousand participants including UII alumnae, civitas academica, public community and bike clubs.

Vice Chairman of DPW IKA UII, Drs. Asmai Ishak, M.Bus, Ph.D mentioned this event will be attended by several Indonesian Government officials such as Minister of State-Owned Enterprises, Dahlan Iskan, Minister of Youth and Sport, Andi Mallarangeng, and Minister of National Education M. Nuh. In addition, Head of Yogyakarta local government including Governor, Regents and Mayors will be participated in this event.

He who is also Dean of International Programs UII said further that there will be many chance to win several door prizes including Umrah packages for two people, dozens of motorcycles and mountain bikes, as well as other prizes such as refrigerators, TV, mobile phone and many more. “To join this fun bike event, the participants only need to pay thirty thousand rupiah.”

According to UII Rector, Prof Dr. Edy Suandi Hamid, M.Ec, this activity held by UII is an effort to meet social interaction and care with our society. "From the academic perspective, I emphasize that universities are no longer becoming an ivory tower that ignores several problems facing our society" He said at press conference on Wednesday (2/5) at Yogyakarta.

The Fun Bike will start from UII Cik Di Tiro campus and finish at Alun-Alun Utara Yogyakarta. Fun Bike Tour will run for about 11 km in length. Prof. Edy also revealed that cycling routes aimed at keeping flashback of historical building such as Syuhada Mosque which was used as a place to study by UII’s student in the past before UII main campus building was established, and Kridosono, the place where Badan Wakaf (UII Foundation) building ever built.
