In 1996, UII founded the International Program under the auspices of the Faculty of Economics in anticipation of the coming era of globalization. Human resources in the era of globalization are required to compete at a global level. Universities should be able to equip its graduates with adequate knowledge and skills to face the global competition while winning. Therefore, IPFE established with the aim to answer those demands by providing the higher education on bachelor level in the field of economics and international business with the ultimate objective of producing graduates who are able to compete in national and international job market.
IPFE offers three programs of study in Economics, Accounting, and Management with all activities inside and outside the classroom using English. During its development, Legal Studies and Industrial Engineering department also established an International Program in 1999 under the jurisdiction of respective faculty. At the present time almost all universities in Indonesia proclaimed himself "into a world-class universities" (Towards World Class University), including Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII). As the oldest private university in Indonesia, UII is committed to the internationalization of education so that it can be a part of world-class universities.
To achieve the vision, UII, since the beginning of 2011, began to integrate those three units of the International Program into an autonomous unit which is equivalent to the Faculty; which then named as the International Program of UII (UII IP). As an autonomous unit, IP UII shall develop its own strategies and programs as an effort to accelerate the achievement of its vision to be a World Class University.
