The seminar was held as media to disseminate and share knowledge between academics and practitioners about their research results or innovation on information technology. The event held at t Royal Ambarukmo Hotel, Yogyakarta, on Saturday (6/16), featured Prof. Dr. Ir. Abdul Razak Hamdan, from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) as a Keynote speaker. In his speech UII Rector, Prof. Dr. Edy Suandi Hamid, M.Ec, mentioned that the information technology in everyday life has provided many benefits not only facilitating communication but also protecting national security. As we know that in globalization era, all aspects of social life including economics, legal, socio-culture, politics have been integrated due to the development of information technology. On the other hand, implementing and developing information technology is uneasy task with many obstacles and challenges. One of its problems is the availability of human resources in the information technology field. Therefore, it is necessary to employ strategy to maximize the utilization information technology such as by preparing suitable human resources in the information technology field.
Meanwhile, the development of information technology is being misused. Today, cyber crimes that can be committed with the use of information technology are rapidly rising. Many factors influence the increase in cyber crimes such as the impacts of social media that have given hackers new ways to commit cyber crimes. "The capability of law enforcement in utilizing information technology is admittedly still weak to prevent cyber crimes in Indonesia." He explained
