FK UII Again Produces New Doctors

49 new doctors including 13 male and 36 female doctors have been graduated from Faculty of Medicine (FK) Universitas Islam Indonesia. They have passed Indonesian Doctor Competence Test (UKDI) with excelent results. Afterward, on Wednesday (6/20) inauguration and hippocratic outh ceremony FK UII XVII has been held at Kahar Muzakir Auditorium. Up until now, Faculty of Medicine UII has totally inaugurated 475 doctors.

"Nearly 1 percent of 50 thousand doctors in Indonesia are produced by Faculty of Medicine UII, whereas FK UII already established in 2001. With the number of medical faculty in Indonesia that are only 72 faculty, the percentage is quite satisfying "said UII Rector, Prof. Dr. Edy Suandi Hamid, M.Ec,.

Also attending in this occasion were Dean of Faculty of Medicine, dr. Isnatin Miladiyah, M.Kes, Coordinator of Clinical Education FK UII Prof. Dr. dr. H. Rusdi Lamsudin, MMed.Sc. SPS (K), Secretary of Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) Region DIY dr. Wigati Damiyati, Sp.Rad, Chief of Health Office DIY drg. H. M Taufiq AK., Kes, Director of UII’s partner hospital, representatives of student organizations at FK UII, and doctor’s parents.

Prof. Dr. dr. H. Rusdi Lamsudin, MMed.Sc. SPS (K), in his speech uttered that in 2011, Indonesian government has assignement 3782 physicians who have been placed in several areas, such as in remote and very remote area. However, this amount was still not enough to cover the large demographic areas of Indonesia. Therefore, it is expected that new doctors who has recently been inducted are willing to serve their contribution in such remote areas in Indonesia.

Meanwhile, Secretary of Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) Region DIY dr. Wigati Damiyati, Sp.Rad, urged the new doctors to always uphold the three roles of Doctor. According to her, Doctor is agent of treatment, agent of change and agent of development. UII’s new doctors should be able to treat patients well by applying their knowledge that have been obtained during their study. Morever, they are urged to be able to change the paradigm of society that today’s reality shows that more people prefer to seek medical care abroad. At last, Doctor must improve their medical science and competence in line with the new finding on disease which is today increasingly complex.
