UII Lecturer Candidates Forced Producing Academic Writing E-mail

ImageAfter passing several test requirements, 32 UII lecturer candidates followed a series of pre-service training as an initial step to become lecturer at UII. The candidates are forced to actively produce academic writing such as book or articles in both national and international journals.

"It is a must for UII lecturer candidates demonstrating their academic qualifications by actively writing academic paper. As long as we know, selection process to become UII lecturer is more difficult than other universities." As told by UII Rector, Prof. Dr. Edy Suandi Hamid, M.Ec, opening pre-career on Monday (6/26) at UII main campus.

Meanwhile, Dr. Mustaqim, SH., M.Hum, the representative of Badan Wakaf Foundation UII, who attends in this event urged the candidates to grasp the value meaning of UII vision and mission as well as caturdharma UII (four roles of Universitas Islam Indonesia). Dr. Mustaqim also emphasized several values that should be owned by lecturer candidate like hard work, time management, trust and personal value.

Also attending in this activity were UII Vice Rector II UII, Dra. Neni Meidawati, M.Sc., Ak. Vice Rector III, Ir. Bachnas, M.Sc. Dean of Faculty of Islamic Studies (FIAI), Dr. Dadan Muttaqien, SH., M. Hum, Dean of Faculty of Industrial Technology (FTI), Ir. Gumbolo Hadi Susanto,. M.Sc and Dean of Faculty of Medicine (FK) UII, dr. Isnatin Miladiyah, M.Kes.

Motivation and Discipline Increase Productivity

Prof. Edy who also acted as speaker in this event brought a material entitled ‘Motivation and Leadership’. In his presentation, he revealed that motivation is needed to improve quality and productivity of work performance.

"Anyone is willing to do any jobs if he has high motive, otherwise people who are not driven by a strong motive will be spiritless doing any jobs" he said.

According to Prof. Edy, work motivation can be divided into two types such as intrinsic and extrinsic motivation.  Intrinsic motivation refers to motivation that comes from inside an individual. The motivation comes from the sense of satisfaction in completing or even working on a task.While, extrinsic motivation refers to motivation that comes from outside an individual.

Prof. Edy also gave emphasis on discipline that becomes very important aspect in encouraging individual productivity. "The first step to cultivate discipline is to manage time effectively and being on time.” He said

In addition, Drs. Syafarudin Alwi, M.Si who delivers material about ‘Universitas Islam Indonesia’ highlighted Islamic Dakwah Activity that must be upholded by academic community at UII. "Islamic Dakwah Activity is one of the roles of Universitas Islam Indonesia as the embodiment of Catur Dharma UII." He uttered.
