ImageIndonesia’s today is being flooded with problems and criminal cases including murder cases, drug abuse, and corruption scandal. Moreover, many of suspect of corruption cases are Moslem adherent. Alas, this fact signifies that Islamic moral values are still not embodied yet in Moslem personality as well as in society.

This statement was revealed by UII Rector, Prof. Dr. Edy Suandi Hamid, M.Ec giving his religious speech at Baitul Qohar Mosque, Jl. Cik Ditiro on Friday (7/20). "I assume that today’s Moslem ummah just read Al Quran and Al Hadith without conceiving their value meaning". He said

Quoting Qur'an Surah Al Baqarah verse 185, Prof. Edy explained further that Allah SWT has given guidances for the people that lead us to do good deeds and stop evil.  Just because people sometimes ignore God’s guidance, they may do bad deeds that bring them to hell-fire.

"The month of Ramadhan should be a moment to conduct self-introspection by improving the quality of worship to Allah that can guide us to the straight path." He emphasized

The positive impact of religious experience at Ramadhan month must be constantly maintained and implemented in our daily life. In addition, it is a must for Moslem to appreciate the spiritual values of fasting.
