Accounting Profession Program Produces 36 New Accountants E-mail

ImageAccounting Profession Program (PPAk UII) officially inaugurated 36 new accountants on September 15th, at Faculty of Economics building, UII Condong Catur campus. The ceremony was lead by UII Vice Rector I for Academic Affair, Nandang Sutrisno, SH., M.Hum, LLM., PhD.

This ceremony was also witnessed by Chairman of Accounting Profession Education Recommendation and Evaluation Committee /KERPPA, Prof. Dr. Indra Wijaya K, MBA, MSA, Ak, Chairman of Indonesian Accountants Association (IAI) Yogyakarta Region, Dr. Supriyadi, M.Sc. Ak., Dean of Faculty of Economics UII, Prof. Drs. Hadri Kusuma, MBA., DBA, and Head of Accounting Profession Program, Dr. Kumala Hadi, MS, Ak, CPA.

In his speech, Nandang Sutrisno stated that Universitas Islam Indonesia as one of higher education institutions in Indonesia that run Accounting Profession Programs has designed unified curriculum and learning systems with  information technology.

"The graduates of this program are expected to possess unique competence and master information technology as well as competency in Sharia finance.” Nandang stated

In addition, Nandang also mentioned that the objective of Accounting Profession Program UII is to nurture accountant with excellence competence, professionalism becoming Public Accountant, Management Accountant, and Government Accountant.

"Though Accounting Profession Program UII is still young, the program has attracted many students pursuing accountant profession at UII. Therefore, UII continuously affirms its commitment to maintain its academic quality.” He emphasized

Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Indra Wijaya Kusuma in his speech mentioned that the career opportunity of accounting profession in Indonesia is still very large since only few higher education institutions in Indonesia produce accountant profession graduates. Moreover, Indonesia only has approximately 1000 certified accountants.

On the other hand, this phenomenon influences higher education institutions in Indonesia to establish Accountant Profession Program. Nowadays, there are 39 universities in Indonesia that run accountant profession Program. On be half Accounting Profession Education Recommendation and Evaluation Committee /KERPPA, Prof. Indra stressed out that if university can not managed the operations of Accounting Profession Program professionally, then the authority will close this program. “Based on the data, there are 3 universities in Indonesia that have closed its Accounting Profession Program.” He explained
