Ideally, education should be able to encourage economic growth, democratization, harmonization of cultural creativity, science and technology.
"Isn’t it ironic that teacher gets higher salaries, students get shopisticated education facilities, but they have no bright future?" As told by Dr. Bambang Indriyanto from Center for Policy Research (Puslitjak), Research and Development Agency, Ministry of National Education. Dr. Bambang who attends Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on Monday (9/17) at UII Cik Ditiro campus said that his party intends to have intensive discussion along with higher education institutions and local government in D.I Yogyakarta regarding economics growth, health issues, social and political issues. "We want to know major economic targets of Yogyakarta province within 2-3 years. By knowing the economic growth target, we can stipulate policy and enforce expectations.” He explained According to him, Ministry of National Education is working seriously to gain information about regional economics condition in Indonesia. He expected that regional economic strategic planning and target in Yogyakarta can be adopted by other local government in Indonesia as the reference to develop their region. Meanwhile, UII Vice Rector for academic affair, Nandang Sutrisno, SH, LLM, MHum,, Ph.D mentioned that it is necessary to build synergy between education institutions, government’s bureaucracy and other stake holder in order to work together solving nation's problems and enhanching nation’s development. "We expect that this forum group discussion can conclude recommendations to deal with sustainable development in Indonesia.” He emphasized |
