Promoting Product via Internet, Brajan Bamboo Handicraft Ready to Go International E-mail

ImageIn today's era of globalization, promoting product and service via internet technology using social media networking becomes a massive trend among youth all over the world. The internet technology enables business owner to run sales promotion and deliver 24-hours service toward their customer. Moreover, it can shrink the distance between customers and business owners.

Unfortunately, several business owner and manufacturer in Indonesia do not have the knowledge to utilize internet technology and social media networking as media promotion. Dusun Brajan is one of example of tourism village located at Sleman Regency which is popular with bamboo handicraft. Though, the high quality bamboo handicraft product is widespread all over the world, the report says that the ratio of business owner who utilize internet technology as media promotion to other business owner is 1: 12. It means that, consumers are only able to find information about the product from one manufacturer only. Therefore, it is urgent to share knowledge about internet technology as an effective media promotion among bamboo handicraft manufacturers in Brajan Village.

From this reason, Directorate of Research and Community Service UII along with PT. Jasa Raharja have been working together to promote community social responsibility at Brajan Village. Located at DPPM UII building, both parties on Tuesday (9/18) organized training course on empowering bamboo handicraft entrepreneur involving 24 bamboo business owners from Brajan Village.

"UII in collaboration with PT Jasa Raharja have been working seriously promoting Brajan bamboo handicraft. Today, we can see that the Brajan bamboo handicraft product becomes more popular as consumer can discover it in TV program and feature.” As said Director of DPPM-UII, Dr. Ing Ir. Widodo Bronto Wiyono, MSc

"The one day training aims at encouraging Brajan bamboo handicraft product ready to go International.” He added

Meanwhile, Branch Manager PT Jasa Raharja, Hj. Dra. Q Aeni Syamlawi, MM said that her institutions take a responsibility to improve and enhance environmental and economic conditions by allocating funds and donation. Moreover, PT Jasa Raharja also delivers small business loan and organizes training as well as community development programs.

"Up until today, PT Jasa Raharja invites 660 CSR partners and provides IDR 12.6 billion loan for their partner. In addition, our institution provides IDR 1.2 billion to help environmental development program in August 2012.” She explained

Participating in this training, the audience will obtain knowledge on social media marketing, design products, English communication skill in order to promote their business and marketing.
