With regards to develop UII human resoources as well as to implement university quality management system, UII has been collaborating with universities, both local and overseas. Academic collaboration have been conducted with Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Sunan KalijagaYogyakarta, Universitas Islam Riau, Universitas Lancang Kuning Pekanbaru, Universitas Islam Sumatera Utara, Universitas Balikpapan, Universitas Wijaya Kusuma, Institut Agama Islam Negeri (IAIN) Raden Intan Bandar Lampung, Akademi Kepolisian RI. UII has also been working with overseas universities namely dengan Monash University Australia, Pai Chai University Korea , University of Karlsrühe Jerman , Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM), dan Tokyo Metropolitan University.
Patnership agreement has been conducted between UII and government institutions. The academic collaboration and research collaboration has been conducted with Department of National Education, Department of Transportation, Department of Justice and Human Right, Department of Man Power and Transmigrasi, Department of Forestry, Indonesian Supreme Court, as well as with Indonesian regional government namely D.I Yogyakarta Province, Riau Province, Kulon Progo regency government, Gunung Kidul regency government, Sleman regency government, Magelang regency government, Cilacap regency government andIndragiri Hilir regency government, to name but a few.
UII also has patnership agreement with industry institutions and industry association. This has taken the form of scholarship program, joint seminar, alumni recruitment program, laboratory equipment grant program. There were several parties who have been collaborating with UII, including Microsoft, SAP, PT Astra, Exxon Mobile Oil, PT Djarum, Tifico, PT Tempo Group, LG Innotek, PT Tirta Investama Indonesia, PT Pancaran Harapan Nusa (PT PHN), Edugate, Acer, Cisco Networking Academy, Oracle, ACICIS, Indonesian Bar Association (DPP IKADIN), Indonesian Advocate Association, Indonesian Textile Association, and Indonesian Internet Service Provider Association. Furthermore, on 2005, UII Chemical Engineering department has been collaborated with Department of Industrial in establishing Pusat Pelatihan Industri Garmen (satellite factory). Meanwhile, UII Mechanical Engineering Department also has been conducted collaboration along with Indonesian Textile Association Yogyakarta Branch, Balai Besar Penelitian dan Pengembangan Industri Kerajinan dan Batik Departemen Perindustrian RI, as well as UGM Chemical Engineering Department.
