Joint Degree Programs

Joint degree programs at Universitas Islam Indonesia allows you to achieve two degrees in a shorter time than it would take if you take each program separately. Once you have fulfilled the requirements of both degrees, you may graduate with two qualifications from UII and the partner university.

The implementation of the joint degree program for each UII partner university can be different. Therefore, you are advised to contact the Office of International Affairs (OIA) to help you understand and fulfill all the requirements and procedures necessary to join the program you wish to attend.

UNDERGRADUATE JOINT DEGREE PROGRAMS

UII and University of Gloucestershire & University of Bedfordshire, United Kingdom

In July 2010, UII signed MoUs with two universities in the United Kingdom which are the University of Gloucestershire (UoG) and the University of Bedfordshire (UoB). Both universities offer a joint degree program where students will study two years at Accounting or Management Study Program, Faculty of Economics, and the following two years at UoG or UoB. How to apply for this program?

  1. All students apply to UoG/UoB by filling in the application at the UoG/UoB Website.
  2. Students submit the scanned and hard copy documents: academic transcript with the minimum GPA of 3.00, CV, a motivation letter, a copy of passport, an English proficiency certificate (IELTS 6.0, TOEFL paper: 550, or TOEFL iBT: 79), and a proof of finance, to the UII International Office (IO).
  3. IO UII will send all the requirements to UoG/UoB by email.
  4. Students will receive a letter of offer, and an invoice to pay the tuition fee with a certain deadline. There are 2 (two) kinds of letter of offer, which are:
  • A conditional letter of offer, if students have not met the required English language proficiency’s score which are TOEFL paper: 550, TOEFL iBT: 79, or IELTS 6.0, they must join a Pre-sessional Intensive English Language Course at the university. The length of the course depends on the level of the students’ English proficiency.
  • An unconditional letter of offer
  1. After paying the invoice, students will receive an acceptance letter with the CAS Number on it.
  2. Students apply for accommodation at the university through online application at the university website, and pay deposit to book the accommodation.
  3. Students start to prepare for student visa applications. Please see here.
  4. Students study at UoG/UoB for two years.
  5. Students graduate from UoG/UoB and report the graduation to IO UII.
  6. Students apply for the graduation at the UII by submitting the requirements to the Academic Division in respective departments.

When are the sessions?

Application may be submitted anytime until 30 June of the year and students are expected to come in August for the orientation program.

UII and University of Queensland (UQ), Australia

UII and UQ signed the Memorandum of Agreement in terms of a Double Degree Program in September 2015. This partnership offers an opportunity for students majoring in Management and Accounting to transfer their study to the UQ after the second years of their study.  The study in UQ shall be accomplished in 1.5 years. Therefore, after the completion of the study, students will be awarded two degrees from both UII (SE – Sarjana Ekonomi) and UQ (Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) and Bachelor of Business Management).

UII and University of Wollongong, Australia

Since 1999, UII has been collaborating with the University of Wollongong (UoW), Australia to offer a joint Degree Program, which allows IP students to transfer their studies from UII to the Faculty of Commerce of the UoW. The program commences in February and July each year. Transferring students are able to complete their bachelor degree program at the Faculty of Commerce and will receive two diplomas: an SE diploma from the Faculty of Economics UII and a Bachelor diploma from the Faculty of Commerce, UoW. Read more

How to apply for this program?

  1. All students apply to UoW by filling in the online application at the UoW Website here.
  2. Students submit the scanned and hard copy documents: academic transcript with the minimum GPA of 3.00, CV, a motivation letter, a copy of passport, and an English proficiency certificate (IELTS 6.0, TOEFL paper: 550, or TOEFL iBT: 79), to the UII International Office (IO).
  3. IO UII will send all the requirements to UoW by email. The outcome of the application will be received by the IO as well as the student within approximately two weeks. If students have not met the required English language proficiency’s score which are TOEFL paper: 550, TOEFL iBT: 79, or IELTS 6.0, they can still be made a conditional offer of admission, and must join a Preparatory English Language Program at WCA (Wollongong College Australia).
  4. If students receive an unconditional acceptance letter from UoW, they will have to pay the tuition fees as written in the letter prior to the date of session.
  5. Students start to prepare for student visa applications at the Australian Embassy in Jakarta.
  6. Students study at UoW for two years.
  7. Students graduate from UoW and report the graduation to IO UII.

When are the sessions?

The academic year at the UoW is divided into two main sessions: Autumn (February) and Spring (July).

UII and Saxion University of Applied Sciences, Netherlands

Saxion University offers a joint Degree Program 3+1 where UII students can transfer their study to Saxion University after completion of their third year at UII. The program provides an internship program in the second semester. By completing your bachelor courses at Saxion you will be awarded with an internationally recognized bachelors’ degree, and be given a chance to work in the Netherlands for five years. Read more

How to apply for this program?

  1. All students apply to Saxion by filling in the online application at the Saxion Website here.
  2. Students submit the scanned and hard copy documents: academic transcript with the minimum GPA of 3.00, CV, a motivation letter, a copy of passport, and an English proficiency certificate, to the UII International Office.
  3. IO UII will send all the requirements to Saxion International Office by email by 1 June. If students have not achieved the minimum English language proficiency’s score which are TOEFL 550 and IELTS 6.0, they must retake the test and resubmit the result by 15 July.
  4. Students will get an acceptance letter from Saxion together with an invoice, which includes visa, housing, insurance, etc.
  5. Students pay the invoice and will receive the immigration documents after the payment is made.
  6. Students have to fill in the immigration documents and send the originals to Saxion as soon as possible. Furthermore the students have to transfer the package fee payment before 1 July. Saxion will then apply for a student VISA at the Immigrations Services (IND) in the Hague, NL. As soon as it has been approved, students can make an appointment with the Netherlands Embassy in Jakarta.
  7. Students study at Saxion for one year.
  8. Students graduate from Saxion and report the graduation to IO UII.

When are the sessions?

For admission in September: application deadline is 1 June, deadline for payment is 1 July, arrival and start of the program is in September.

UII and Youngsan University, South Korea

UII and Xiaozhuang University, Nanjing, China

UII signed an MoA with Xiaozhuang University (XU), Nanjing in November 2015. The collaboration that has agreed is the Joint Degree 2+2 program, where UII students can transfer their study to XU after the second year. This opportunity is open for Management, Accounting, and Informatics Engineering students. The program provides a partial scholarship from XU – free of tuition fee for UII students.

Student Exchanges

Universitas Islam Indonesia offers student exchange programs of varying lengths and designs. You can take certain courses with a certain amount of credits for 1 or 2 semesters according to the curriculum requirements in your study program that allows you to study at UII partner universities. The results of the grade that you get while studying abroad will be transferred into the recording of your academic transcript results at UII. For more information on partner universities, program details and how to apply, please visit the links below.

UNDERGRADUATE STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAMS

SolBridge International School of Business, Woosong University, South Korea

In 2009, IP UII established a partnership with Solbridge International School of Business, Woosong University,   South Korea. This partnership offers a student exchange program where IP students can take one semester courses at SolBridge. This program offers IP students the opportunity to experience international standard of higher education while completing their studies. Having completed the program, the students can transfer credits gained at SolBridge to obtain their UII degree. Read more

How to apply for this program?

  1. All students apply to SolBridge by filling in the application by downloading the application form at the SolBridge

  1. Students submit the scanned and hard copy documents: academic transcript with the minimum GPA of 3.00, CV, a motivation letter, a copy of passport, an English proficiency certificate (IELTS 6.0, TOEFL paper: 550, or TOEFL iBT: 79 (TOEFL ITP: 550 can be accepted), and a statement of health to the UII International Office.
  2. IO UII will send all the requirements to SolBridge by email. If students have not met the required English
    language proficiency’s score which are TOEFL paper: 550, TOEFL iBT: 79, or IELTS 6.0, they can still join
    the program, but must join an English Language Program at SolBridge.
  3. Students pay the accommodation fees as written in the letter before the deadline.
  4. Students start to prepare for student visa applications. You can apply for the visa through an agent or directly go to Korean Embassy in Jakarta.
  5. Students study at SolBridge for one semester (4 months).
  6. Students will receive the result of their study in two – three weeks after their arrival in Indonesia. IO will make a notification of what subjects can be transferred into UII curriculum.
  7. Students give their academic transcript from SolBridge with the notification to Academic Division in respective departments.

When are the sessions?

Spring Semester                : February – June
Fall Semester                     : August – December

The deadline of application submission is usually one month before the session starts.

Saxion University of Applied Sciences, Netherlands

UII and Saxion University signed an MoU in March 2011 to have educational collaboration, which include student exchange program. At this time the program is offered to IP students majoring in Management. The exchange program expects students to spend one semester at Saxion University studying Marketing and International Management. The maximum credit that can be taken is 30 cps, which can be transferred to UII. Read more

How to apply for this program?

  1. All students apply to Saxion by filling in the online application at the Saxion
    Website here.
  2. Students submit the scanned and hard copy documents: academic transcript with the minimum GPA of 3.00, CV, a motivation letter, a copy of passport, a proof of finance and an English proficiency certificate, to the UII International Office (IO).
  3. IO UII will send all the requirements to Saxion International Office. The deadlines of application are:
      •       1 May for the Autumn Semester
      •       1 November for the Spring Semester
  1. Students will get an admission letter from MIM Saxion after the applications have been approved. At the same time, the IO Saxion will issue the invoice, which includes visa, housing, insurance, etc.
  2. Students pay the invoice and send the scanned receipt to the IO Saxion.
  3. The IO Saxion will send immigration documents to the students by email.
  4. Students have to fill in the immigration documents and send the originals to Saxion as soon as possible. Saxion will then apply for a student VISA at the Immigrations Services (IND) in the Hague, NL. As soon as it has been approved, students can make an appointment with the Netherland Embassy in Jakarta to get the VISA.
  5. Students study at Saxion for one semester.
  6. Students will receive the result of their study in two up to three weeks after their arrival in Indonesia. IO will make a note of what subject can be transferred into UII curriculum.
  7. Students give their academic transcript with the note to Academic Division in respective departments.

International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), Malaysia

UII has a partnership with Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyah of Law (AIKOL) IIUM, Malaysia since 2009. This partnership offers a student exchange program where students from the Faculty of Law can study at the IIUM for a month. There are many activities the students can participate in this program, for instance attending classes at the IIUM with the opportunity to gain up to 15 cps of credit, visiting courts, parliament, lawyer offices and meeting with Indonesian Students Association in Malaysia (Persatuan Pelajar Indonesia/PPI), as well as weekend trips. Read more

How to apply for this program?

  1. Students apply for the program that is open to all students at the Faculty of Law.
  2. Students participate in a selection process consisting of English proficiency test (CEPT – conducted in
    collaboration with CILACS UII) and interview test.
  3. Ten students selected in this program elect one of the members to be a group leader, and organize pre-departure preparation.
  4. Students attend a farewell meeting with Rector/Vice Rectors before departure.
  5. Students study at IIUM for one month.
  6. Students process the credit transfer.

Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Malaysia

UII has a new partnership with Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in 2015. This partnership offers a student exchange program for 1 or 2 semesters in Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). Currently the program offered is for Management, Accounting and Economics Departments. The credits that are taken in Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) can be transferred to UII after having accomplished the program.

Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM), Malaysia

UII has a new partnership with Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) in 2015. This partnership offers a student exchange program for 1 or 2 semesters in Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM). Currently the program offered is for Management, Accounting and Economics Departments. The credits that are taken in Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) can be transferred to UII after having accomplished the program.

Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi (RMUTT), Thailand

Faculty of Industrial Technology (FIT), UII has a strong collaboration with Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi (RMUTT), Thailand in terms of a student exchange program. The collaboration gives an opportunity to FIT students to transfer their study to RMUTT for one or two semesters. After completing the program, the credits taken at RMUTT can be transferred to FIT UII.

Summer Programs

1. SolBridge International School of Business, Woosong University

This program is designed to enable students to participate in academic sessions in an international business school. During the 12 days stays in South Korea, the students will participate in various activities such as cultural activities, attending some classes, and company visits. This program is open for all UII students.

2. Xiaozhuang University, Nanjing, China

Xiaozhuang University (XU) offers a summer camp program to UII students started from 2015. In this program, students will be given a chance to experience Chinese culture and visit some interesting places in cities around Nanjing, China. What makes this program attractive for students is that XU provides a partial scholarship for the participants of this program which is free living cost so that the students will only pay for the flight and visa.

Internship Programs

1. International Internship to China and India

International Internship offers the opportunity for international students to be an intern in a company or non-government organization in Indonesia, especially in Yogyakarta. The program also gives the opportunity for IP UII students to participate in the program and become an intern in foreign countries (China and India). One of the benefits from the International Internship program is that it gives the opportunity for IP students to interact with international students without leaving Yogyakarta.

2. Internship Program to WIEF (World Islamic Economics Forum) in Malaysia

The WYN (WIEF Young Leaders Network) Global Internship Programme, an initiative established in 2007 by the World Islamic Economic Forum Foundation, is designed withthe purpose of identifying and nurturing young leaders in the Muslim world through internship/apprenticeship exchanges in reputable corporations across the globe. This Program offers students an opportunity to experience working life in a different country, to embrace the different cultures in the Muslim world, and get to know different people while at the same time benefit from professional and leadership skills and world-class best practices at work.
