The students will attend intensive Indonesian language training sessions and will attend a series of lectures on Islam given by senior lecturers and professors at Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII), and also figures and experts in Islamic studies. Short internship experiences in local Islamic institutions in Yogyakarta will be offered to enable students to gain insights into how Islam in Indonesia works in practice in daily life. This mobility project is aimed to help students to enhance not just their intellectual and academic curiosities but also to deepen their sense of mutual understanding between Islam, Indonesia, and global community.
Program Duration & Fees
The length duration of this program can be customized. Our default program schedule and duration will be around 2 (two) weeks including flights (arrival and departure) and 10 full-days program. This program may also be discussed to be held during the first two-weeks of fasting month (Ramadan).
Approximate fees: USD $1,200
Includes: accommodation, group transportation (for scheduled activities), academic program, language courses, and meals. The amount of fees is subject to change and does not include flight, airport tax and visa.
Topics of lectures offers to students who participate in this program will be related to Islamic issues and covers a very diverse discussion. Students will be invited to visit some historic masjid in Yogyakarta, offices of Islamic organizations, legal aid office, human rights center, and also enjoy a weekend in some of the famous cultural and tourist sites as part of a field trip series in the program. Internship activities will be followed by students in the last week of this program. Internships will be held for 2-4 days (depending on the program design/requirement) in several local institutions partnered with UII. After completing the internship activities, field trips, and lectures, students in groups will be asked to give a presentation on what they have learned during the program.
