Global Recognition for Professional Doctors of Law

The Doctor of Law Study Program of the Faculty of Law of Universitas Islam Indonesia (PSHPD FH UII) was first opened in 2001 based on the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Number 272/DIKTI/KEP/2000 dated 10 August 2000. This Doctoral Program is also the first Doctor of Law study program in the Special Region of Yogyakarta and Central Java. In 2012, the Doctor of Law Study Program received a B rating of accreditation from BAN PT, and in 2019, the study program received an A rating of accreditation by BAN PT. The PSHPD FH UII is currently accredited “Unggul” or Excellent by BAN-PT and internationally accredited by FIBAA Germany.

The vision of education implementation at PSHPD FH UII is to realize the Doctor of Law Study Program as rahmatan lil ‘alamin committed to Islamic treatises by upholding quality prophetic values at both national and international levels. The study program aims to:

  1. Produce graduates who have expertise in the field of law with prophetic orientation.
  2. Produce graduates who have expertise to provide legal opinions, formulate legal policies and norms, and resolve legal issues appropriately and fairly.
  3. Produce graduates with integrity, innovative, and transformative character based on Islamic values.
  4. Produce graduates who can contribute to the development of law at a global level.

The Doctor of Law Study Program aims to produce Doctors of Law who have integrity and are innovative, transformative, oriented to prophetic values, universality, nationality, and independency, and ready to play the role of academics and legal practitioners.

  • Academics: Doctor of Law with the capacity as a scientist who has expertise in the field of law and plays a role in education, research, and community service.
  • Practitioners: Doctor of Law who has the ability to provide legal opinions, formulate legal policies and norms (wetgeving), and resolve legal problems (rechtsspraak) in an integrative and interdisciplinary manner.

The learning process at PSHPD FH UII currently uses 2 program schemes: regular program and non-regular program. The Regular Program is held offline (face-to-face) from Thursday to Saturday. Meanwhile, the Non-Regular Program is a program for legal practitioners or professionals in the field of law. The lectures are held on weekends and combined with virtual (online) meetings. The non-regular program is opened with a minimum of 10 students based on the selection results of the structurally organized New Student Admission.

Registration Requirements

The Requirements for Doctor of Law admission include:

  1. Indonesian citizens or foreigners who have permission from the authorities.
  2. Foreigners shall have a residence permit (visa) managed through the Rectorate Office of UII.
  3. Accredited bachelor’s (S1) and master’s (S2) graduates with one or both degrees from a law study program.
  4. Non-Law master’s graduates (S2) are required to join the Matriculation.
  5. Have a minimum GPA of 3.00 at both S1 and S2 degrees.
  6. Attach documents in a single .pdf file:
    • Scan of Diploma/Certificate of Graduation and original S1 and S2 Academic Transcripts.
    • Scan of cum laude certificate (if applicable, specifically for alumni of the Faculty of Law UII).
    • Recent color photo.
    • A curriculum vitae.
    • Scan of ID card (KTP)/driving license (SIM)/passport.
    • Fill in the referee data, including the Full Name, Email, and Mobile Phone Number through Google Form s.id/Rekomendasi-S2-S3.
