Improving Research & Teaching Quality

As a commitment to actively participate in the development and spread of science and technology, UII continues to encourage researches that are facilitated with various laboratories and study centers. UII has also established various teaching collaborations with academics from partner institutions in order to provide an increasingly superior quality of education.

The Development of Research and Teaching at UII

A strong commitment and high spirit to encourage our hard work in doing various researches and research collaborations have placed UII as the Private University with the Best Research Performance in Indonesia (Ministry of Research and Technology of Higher Education, 2016).

Universitas Islam Indonesia has placed research and community service as one of the leading components in achieving UII’s goal to be beneficial to the community (rahmatan lil-alamin) as well as developing the university.

Apart from being supported by a number of research and study centres that focus on various fields of science with the goal of continuing to develop innovation in universities, research development by the UII academics is also supervised by the Directorate of Community Research and Empowerment which is responsible for carrying out, coordinating, monitoring, and assessing the conducting of researches and community services at Universitas Islam Indonesia.

Strategic Research Plan of 2016-2020

Researches in universities must have a close connection to the industrial world as well as a real contribution to solve problems in the society and country. For this reason, Universitas Islam Indonesia has arranged a Strategic Research Plan as a reference for research development in accordance with the vision and mission of UII, as well as as a guide for the excellence development of Universitas Islam Indonesia.

The Strategic Research Plan of UII in 2016-2020 has the main theme of “Improving the Lives of the Civil and Sustainable Society”. This core is then elaborated into 7 (seven) superior areas of research:

  1. Development of models for improving the quality of Islamic life;
  2. Justice based country administration system to fight against Anti-humanity crimes;
  3. Development of creative economy industries based on entrepreneurship and global competitiveness ethics;
  4. Development of smart, sustainable and disaster-responsive environment;
  5. Development of virtual environments (VE) for education, government, and business;
  6. Development of health technology for prevention, diagnostics and therapeutics; and
  7. Development of essential oils and phyto-pharmacy for improvement of health.

Academic Development

UII also continues to drive study programs and lecturers to improve the quality of teaching through various programs to support the development of curriculum and capacity increment. Many competitive internal grant schemes are also held annually by the Directorate of Academic Development (DPA) in order to support the quality improvement and internationalization of study programs, as well as the development of the lecturers’ productivity in creating scientific work and innovations in teaching.
