Digital and Environmental Communication

The Master of Communication Science Study Program of Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII) is designed to produce graduates who excel in digital communication and environmental communication studies. This program combines critical and analytical perspectives on communication, media, and environment in digital culture, with an approach driven by Islamic and Indonesian values.

As a study program oriented toward contemporary issues, the Master of Communication Science of UII offers a curriculum responsive to digital technological development and global environmental challenges. The students will be equipped with a strong theoretical understanding and analytical skills in studying the dynamics of digital communication, media transformation, and environmental impact in the communication ecosystem. With a multidisciplinary approach, this study program encourages sustainable communication research and practices that align with community empowerment.

The study program also excels in presenting visiting professors from around the world who offer global insight and broader academic perspectives. Some of the prominent academics who will participate in the study program include:

  1. Prof. Kristian Bankov (New Bulgarian University, Southeast European Center for Semiotic Studies) – semiotic expert
  2. Prof. Merlyna Lim (Carleton University, Canada) – expert in studies of media, digital technology, and politics.
  3. Prof. Nico Carpentier (Charles University, Prague, Czech) – expert in media and participatory communication theories.
  4. Prof. Nurhaya Muchtar (Indiana University of Pennsylvania, USA) – specialist in journalism, development communication, and environmental issues.

A. The admission requirements for prospective students of the Master of Communication Science Study Program are as follows:

  1. Bachelor’s graduates from accredited study programs of domestic and foreign universities.
  2. Willing to participate in full-time academic activities.
  3. Submit the following administrative requirements:
    • Scan of Diploma or Certificate of Graduation (SKL) of the Bachelor Program (S1). Bachelor’s graduates (S1) from overseas universities shall include a diploma equalized by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology.
    • Scan of academic transcript of Bachelor Program (S1).
    • Curriculum Vitae (template click here)
    • Study permit from the agency/institution (for employees) (template click here)
    • Letter of Recommendation from a lecturer or work supervisor (template click here)
    • Scanned certificate of English proficiency test (TOEFL/IELTS/CEPT).
    • Recent photo sized 3×4.

B. Admission Procedures:

  • Prospective students open the page admisi.uii.ac.id.
  • For those with NIU (Primary Identification Number), log in by entering NIU & Password.
  • For those without NIU (Primary Identification Number), select “Create Account” and prepare a scanned file of ID card/driving license/family card (KTP/SIM/KK) and a formal photo with a maximum file size of 2 MB in JPEG/JPG/PNG format. Log in using NIU & Password.
  • Purchase a form by selecting the Purchase Form menu.
  • Select the Degree: Master (S2). Select the track: PMB Postgraduate and select the Number of Study Programs: 1 option. Then select: FPSB and Master of Communication Science.
  • Upon completing the process, there will be a billing number on the screen for payment at the bank. Make payment of the registration fee of IDR 500,000 using the billing number via Bank Mandiri. Keep the payment receipt.
  • Payment can be made via Teller, ATM, or Mobile Banking.
  • Upload the administrative requirements via: bit.ly/PendaftaranMIKOMUII.
  • Join the selection interview test as scheduled.
  • Check the selection results as scheduled.
  • Register (if admitted) as scheduled.
