Integrative and Transformative Islamic Religious Education for Global Excellence
The Islamic Religious Education Master’s Program (PAIPM) at the Faculty of Islamic Studies, Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII), is a graduate program dedicated to advancing Islamic religious education through integrative, transformative, and globally oriented approaches grounded in Islamic values.
Established in September 1997, the program has a longstanding commitment to advancing Islamic higher education and responding to evolving educational challenges. Its transition from the Master of Islamic Studies (MIAI) to the Islamic Religious Education Master’s Program (PAIPM) represents an adjustment in academic nomenclature and a strengthening of its disciplinary focus, rather than the establishment of a new academic program.
PAIPM’s academic development is guided by an integrative and transformative approach rooted in the principles of rahmatan lil ‘alamin (Islam as a mercy to all creation), Indonesian identity, and global engagement. These principles are reflected in the university’s four core missions (Catur Dharma): education, research, community service, and Islamic outreach (da’wah).
The program is committed to preparing graduates with advanced academic competencies, professional expertise, Islamic integrity, critical thinking skills, and the capacity to develop innovative solutions to educational challenges at both national and international levels.
To ensure academic excellence, PAIPM implements an internal quality assurance system integrated with the university’s institutional quality assurance framework. The program has also earned an Excellent (Unggul) accreditation rating from Indonesia’s National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT), valid from December 15, 2024, through May 31, 2027.
Through continuous curriculum development, technology-enhanced learning, multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, and transdisciplinary research, and the expansion of national and international partnerships, PAIPM strives to become a leading source of inspiration and a recognized center of expertise in Islamic religious education that responds to contemporary societal needs and global developments.
