Master of Psychology

Faculty of Psychology

Nurturing Psychologists Rooted in Science and Spirituality.

The Master of Psychology Study Program is a study program within the Faculty of Psychology and Socio-Cultural Sciences of Universitas Islam Indonesia.
Interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary expertise in Islamic psychology is chosen as the uniqueness of this study program due to the importance of Islamic psychology implementation in various fields. As is known, mental health problems in society are not completely solved since the current implementation of psychology has not deeply explored the issues in the human substance, per se, the spiritual problems. Islamic psychology offers a distinct concept of human substance, from spiritual to behavioural elements. However, most Islamic psychology research is still at the level of parallelization, which equates the concept of Islamic psychology with modern psychology. In fact, the concept of Islamic psychology offers a different theory and will significantly change its implementation. Therefore, interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research in Islamic psychology needs to be conducted institutionally.

  1. The two most relevant learning models to achieve the objectives of the Master of Psychology curriculum are Research-Based Learning (RBL) and Problem-Based Learning (PBL). Both Research-Based Learning (RBL) and Problem-Based Learning (PBL) aim to encourage students’ active participation in the learning process through in-depth exploration, research, and problem-solving.
  2. In this context, various teaching methods such as group discussions, simulations, case studies, collaborative learning, cooperative learning, project-based learning, problem-based learning, inquiry-based learning, independent learning, and reflection become highly relevant. These methods not only support the development of theoretical knowledge but also facilitate students’ ability to apply knowledge in real-world situations, hone critical thinking skills, and encourage independency and responsibility in learning. Therefore, the combination of these two models will provide a strong foundation for the graduates to become innovative researchers as well as practitioners who are able to face real-world challenges with a science- and ethical-based approach.
