Summary of the Study Program

As President Joko Widodo once conveyed, in the next fifteen years, Indonesia needs nine million digital talents, or approximately 600,000 digital talents per year (Treestayanti, 2020). These digital talents are associated with data science, Artificial Intelligence, the Internet of Things, blockchain, quantum and cloud computing, and cybersecurity.

IBM’s 2017 study estimated that by 2020, the need for data science experts would increase by 28% to 2,720,000 (IBM, 2017). Meanwhile, research conducted by QuantHub shows that experts in data science and data analytics were extremely limited during 2018-2019 (DuBois, 2020).

Global experts, from academics to the World Economic Forum and Coursera, have acknowledged the need for new data-related skills. Coursera is an online learning platform that offers various courses containing the skills students or individuals need for work. Based on an analysis conducted by Coursera in 2020, three skills are required today and in the future, including skills in business, technology, and data science (Coursera, 2020). These fundamental skills have included the elements of COVID-19 disruption in any field. The economy of countries having a population with high-level skills in business, data science, and technology (e.g., higher skill proficiency) tends to survive the Covid-19 disruption and have good long-term GDP returns. The skill proficiency of Indonesians is at the 29% quantile.

  1. The Master of Statistics Study Program (PSSPM UII) has two concentrations: business, industry, social, and actuary concentration, and spatial data science and bioinformatics concentration. These concentrations are reflected in the elective courses with a minimum of 12 credits. The Learning Outcomes of PSSPM UII are abbreviated as CREATIVE MINDS: Excellence in Communication, Outstanding Research, A Professional Entrepreneurship, Strong in Analysis, Up to date with Technology, Having Islamic Ethics, Acknowledge other Values, Responsible in Elaboration, Great in Data Managerial Skills, Creative in Innovation, Proud to become Indonesia Nationality, Remarkable Diagnosis Ability, and Advanced in Science. CREATIVE MINDS also becomes the graduate profile of PSSPM UII. The graduates of PSSPM UII are expected to play the role of researchers, academics, data analysts, and entrepreneurs.
  2. In the curriculum implementation, PSSPM UII applies the quality system used by UII: the MERCY OF GOD Quality Assurance System. Therefore, the process of determining, implementing, evaluating, controlling, and improving the higher education standards is always under control for continuous improvement.

A. Administrative Requirements

  1. A curriculum vitae and motivation letter (template)
  2. Recommendations from 2 (two) academic advisors and/or thesis supervisors during the D4/S1 undergraduate study (Click Here)
  3. A study permit from the employer (for a student employee)
  4. A scan of the original D4/S1 diploma/certificate
  5. A scan of the original D4/S1 academic transcript 
  6. A formal, color photo (sized 3 x 4) with a blue background
  7. A scan of the original certificate of English proficiency test*
  8. A scan of the original certificate of academic potential test*
  9. Proof of registration payment


B. Registration Procedures

  1. Prospective students open the page https://admisi.uii.ac.id
  2. For those with NIU (Primary Identification Number), log in by entering the NIU & Password.
  3. For those without NIU (Primary Identification Number), select “Create Account” and prepare a file of a scanned ID card/driving license/family card (KTP/SIM/KK) and a formal photo, with a maximum size of 2 MB in JPEG/JPG/PNG format. Log in using the NIU and password.
  4. Purchase the form by selecting the Purchase Form menu
  5. Select the degree: Magister S2. Selection Track: Master Admission and Number of Study Programs: 1 option. Select: Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences and Master of Statistics
  6. Upon completing the process, a billing number will be on the screen. Use this billing number to make a payment at the bank. Pay the registration fee of IDR 250,000 at Bank Mandiri. Keep the payment receipt. 
  7. The payment can be made via Bank Mandiri teller, ATM, or Mobile Banking

The facilities and infrastructure used by PSSPM UII are partially available at the Statistics Study Program and the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of UII. We implement a facility sharing system.
