Psychologist Professional Education

Faculty of Psychology

The Psychologist Professional Education Study Program is a study program under the Faculty of Psychology and Socio-Cultural Sciences of Universitas Islam Indonesia.

The Psychologist Professional Education Study Program is managed to replace the Master of Psychology Professional Study Program previously accredited B. This program is in accordance with the mandate of Law No. 23 of 2022 concerning Psychology Education and Services and Regulation of the Minister of Education and Culture No. 43 of 2023 concerning Psychologist Professional Education. The Psychologist Professional Education Study Program is organized to produce general psychologists who not only master knowledge, assessment, and intervention skills based on the mainstream approach of contemporary psychology but also adhere to Islamic values in providing psychological services, especially with the Islamic Psychology approach.

Why Islamic Psychology?

  1. Islamic Psychology is expected to be able to control science or technology that causes damage to the noble character, morals, devotion, and faith with their negative impact on various aspects of life.
  2. Islamic psychology is able to answer ongoing issues or problems, including mental issues and human behavior. Modern psychology has not been able to comprehensively explain mental issues and human behavior. Meanwhile, modern science and technology create a gap that alienate humans from religious, cultural, and national values.
  3. Islamic psychology which is sourced from the Qur’an and As-Sunnah perfectly shapes the quality of the human self to achieve mental wellness that allows humans to adapt and achieve success in the globalization era like today.

The psychologists who graduate from the Psychologist Professional Study Program can have a career as a general psychologist in any fields. For example, being a psychologist in a school and/or company, being part of a psychology bureau, starting an independent psychologist practice, and many other opportunities.

  • The learning model adopts the scientific-practitioner model, which assumes that students are equipped with not only knowledge (educational element) but also direct field practice (exposure and evidence-based practice).
  • The learning method in the professional education includes learning in the classroom which aims to strengthen students’ theoretical skills. After they gain knowledge, there will be role plays and practicums which aim to strengthen students’ skills in conducting assessments and preventive, curative, promotive interventions. Students not only learn in the classroom but also conduct field practice with the guidance of an internal supervisor (lecturer) and an external supervisor (practitioner). Each student will receive education in four (4) backgrounds: health, education, workplace, and community.
