UII Receives Another Recognition by QS Rankings
SLEMAN—Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), a globally reputable ranking agency, has once again acknowledged the achievements of Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII). UII is listed in the QS World University Rankings (WUR) 2025, placing in the 1,201-1,400 range.
This achievement positions UII among the top 15 universities in Indonesia, the top three private universities in Indonesia, and the leading private university in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. UII’s international research network received the highest score among private universities nationally, with a rating of 10.7 out of 100.
The announcement was conveyed in a written statement by the Head of Academic and Organizational Affairs at UII’s Office of Planning and Development/Rumah Gagasan (BPP/RG/KK), Shubhi Mahmashony Harimurti, S.S., M.A., to UII’s Public Relations Division.
On 17 May 2024, QS Southeast Asia Regional Director E Way Chong visited UII and was welcomed by Dr. Bagus Fajria Hakim, Head of BPP/RG/KK. This visit reflects the strong interest that QS, which has been publishing rankings since 2004, has in UII. During the visit, the QS Regional Director presented information on QS rankings, as well as the achievements and future opportunities for UII as a pioneering national university in Indonesia.
This recognition adds to the appreciation UII received six months ago when it was, for the first time, included in the QS Sustainability Rankings 2024. This ranking assesses universities’ commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and complements the QS WUR. This achievement is noteworthy, as in 2023, only two universities in Indonesia were listed in the QS Sustainability Rankings.
Separately, UII Rector Fathul Wahid, said, “This is an external recognition for UII, and we are grateful for it. However, we do not consider rankings to be the goal of our efforts. Rather, it is a positive outcome of the collective work of everyone at UII.” (AHR/HA/RSH)
