UII’s Moot Court Community Wins 2024 Frans Seda Cup
SLEMAN—The Moot Court Community (KPS) team from the Faculty of Law of Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII) won first place in the “National Moot Court Competition (NMCC) Frans Seda 2024” organized by Atma Jaya University Jakarta on Sunday, May 26, 2024.
The KPS team outperformed nine teams from various law faculties across Indonesia. In addition to winning the competition, the UII team also received awards for Best Prosecutor, Best Expert Witness, Best Defendant, Best Case File, and Best Presente in Chamber C.
UII delegation consisted of 18 students, including two officials, from the second year, third year, and fourth year students. all of whom shared an interest in criminal law, particularly criminal procedure. The team prepared intensively over seven months for this prestigious competition, ultimately achieving first place.
According to Andang, the delegation leader, this marked the team’s third participation in the competition. “This is the third time we participated in the NMCC Frans Seda Cup—in 2012, 2022, and 2024. Alhamdulillah [thank God], each time we have participated, we have delivered excellent results,” he said.
He expressed pride and joy in KPS FH UII’s achievements. “It brings me immense pride and joy to represent UII on a national level in this prestigious moot court competition. The hard work, prayers, and trust from our team over the past seven months have been rewarded with satisfying results,” said Andang, a 2021 law student at UII.
“During the closing ceremony, all of us were moved to tears, celebrating our victory with euphoria, followed by prostration in gratitude. Together, we chanted ‘Allahu Akbar’ [Allah is Great] on the podium,” Andang added.
Andang hopes that KPS can continue to excel in this prestigious competition, a tradition since 2004. He also encouraged future students of Faculty of Law UII who join the delegation to make the most of the competition to unlock their potential.
“UII’s Faculty of Law has proven itself as a powerhouse in national moot court competitions, with an impressive track record and legacy spanning 20 years,” he said.
“Our message to all students of Faculty of Law UII, the NMCC is a prestigious competition for law students across Indonesia. It is the ideal platform to explore one’s potential and grow, making it easier to pursue future aspirations,” Andang concluded.
