Faculty of Islamic Studies

The Faculty of Islamic Studies (FIAI) is a distinctive need for UII. It has been opened since the establishment of UII. The faculty has developed and produced numerous graduates having reasonable quality. The reality shows that FIAI needs continuous improvement and development either institutionally or structurally to be able to anticipate and overcome the future challenges. As a faculty which is rahmatan lil’alamin, FIAI has a vision to be a center of reference for Islamic law, education, and economy. Efforts are done to prepare professional experts on Islamic Law, Education, and Economy having commitment towards superiority in competencies.

Reviewing the recent developments while also considering the purpose of UII establishment, FIAI UII opens Doctor of Islamic Law Study Program (HIPD JSI FIAI UII) consisting of Islamic Law and Sharia Economics Concentrations.

Its specialty is producing experts of doctoral graduates in Islamic law having knowledge on Islam and Indonesia as well as mastering the system of Indonesian law.

HIPD aims to produce doctor graduates in Islamic Law with the knowledge on the integration of science and Indonesian culture.

Prospective students are required to prepare and upload the following documents through the admission portal of UII (UIIAdmisi):

  1. Scanned official diplomas of:
    • Bachelor’s degree (S-1)
    • Master’s degree (S-2)
  2. Scanned official academic transcripts of:
    • Bachelor’s degree (S-1)
    • Master’s degree (S-2)
  3. Scanned certificate of English or Arabic proficiency (TOEFL / CEPT / TOAFL*), with a minimum score of 525
  4. Scanned certificate of Academic Potential Test (Tes Potensi Akademik / TPA) with a minimum score of 500
  5. Scanned employment appointment letter (for applicants who are currently employed)
  6. Scanned study permit or assignment letter signed by the applicant’s current employer (for working applicants)
  7. Scanned copies of:
    • National Identity Card (Kartu Tanda Penduduk)
    • Birth Certificate (Akte Kelahiran)
    • Family Card (Kartu Keluarga)
  8. Scanned passport-size photographs with a blue background, sizes 3×4 cm and 4×6 cm (close-up or half-body)
  9. Integrity Pact, downloaded from:
    s.id/PaktaIntegritasHIPD
  10. Academic Reference, submitted via:
    bit.ly/RekomendasiAkademikDHI
  11. Dissertation proposal summary (approximately 15 pages)

All required documents must be combined into one (1) PDF file and uploaded through the UII Admission Portal.

*TOEFL: Test of English as a Foreign Language; CEPT: Certificate of English Proficiency Test (administered by Cilacs UII); TOAFL: Test of Arabic as a Foreign Language

Official information on students’ admission is available in: admisi.uii.ac.id :

a. Enroll in the Doctoral Program (Islamic Law or Sharia Economic Law)
b. Create Admission Number or Nomor Induk Utama (NIU)
c. Pay the application fee (IDR 750.000,-) and confirm through WhatsApp number 0823-2566-2323 / 08175425758
d. Fill in the application and upload all required documents
e. Check the result announcement in the admission portal
f. Complete the re-registration process and confirm payment

Newly admitted students who have completed the application process must participate in the academic orientations hosted by the University, Faculty, and Department. These sessions served as an introduction to the academic system, curricula, and governance of the Doctoral Program.

  1. Classes are held in accordance with the academic calendar of Universitas Islam Indonesia.
  2. Academic activities comprise classes, proposal seminars, research result seminars, and dissertation defenses, as administered by the regulations of the Doctoral Program.

The Doctoral Program in Islamic Law offers two areas of concentration:

  1. Islamic Law
  2. Sharia Economic Law
  1. Classes are held from Monday to Friday (for the Regular program).
  2. The lecture models and methods of instruction adhere to the regulations established by the Department and Universitas Islam Indonesia.

Important Notes

The entire process, from application to selection, results announcement, and new student registration, is integrated and administered through the admission portal of Universitas Islam Indonesia.
