UII Students Receive Award from ERPsim Asia Pacific Japan Business Competition

SLEMAN—After having been global champion since 2015, students from the Undergraduate Program in Accounting of Faculty of Business and Economics (FBE) at Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII) have once again demonstrated their excellence at the annual “Enterprise Resource Planning Simulation (ERPsim) Competition Asia Pacific Japan (APJ) 2024.”

The UII team won 2nd place in the “Business Simulation Games SAP-ERPsim 2024” that was held online by ERPsimLab HEC Montreal from 18 October to 1 November 2024.

This year, the Department of Accounting was represented by a team named Kerja Rodi, comprising five students, namely Arif Sahid Mustofa, Qininari Laksmiprabha Syahid, Adibta Wahyu, Usman Dzaki, and Fauzan Hilmi Rafi Ardani.

The Kerja Rodi team successfully outperformed several teams from prestigious universities worldwide, including from Yeungnam University (South Korea), the University of Melbourne (Australia), Multimedia Cyberjaya (Malaysia), Universitas Gadjah Mada (Yogyakarta), Universitas Brawijaya (Malang), and others.

ERPsim is a business simulation game utilizing the SAP SAHANA application based on the ERP-SAP system, allowing students to gain hands-on experience managing virtual companies in a competitive market. Notably, since 2006, ERP-SAP has been a flagship course in UII’s Department of Accounting.

Over the years, Department of Accounting students have consistently excelled in various international ERP competitions. These achievements include 1st place in SAP ERPsim Asia Pacific Japan in 2021, 1st place in both SAP ERPsim Asia Pacific Japan and the 14th SAP ERPsim International Competition in 2022, and several additional victories in subsequent years.

In 2024, the study program secured 2nd place in SAP ERPsim Asia Pacific Japan, 2nd place in SAP ERPsim Rest Asia Pacific Japan, and 1st place in the SAP ERPsim Sustainability Challenge.

According to Kerja Rodi team member Fauzan Hilmi Rafi Ardani, the team underwent internal selection organized by the Department of Accounting before advancing to the international ERPsim competition as UII’s representatives.

He expressed gratitude for their achievement in this year’s competition, despite falling short of the first-place title they had previously earned. Fauzan highlighted their determination to improve and noted their subsequent success in the sustainability challenge.

“It’s disappointing not to win first place, but since the module used this year was different from previous years, we finished second. Still, we used that disappointment to improve, as evidenced by our victory in the sustainability challenge,” he shared.

Team member Adibta Wahyu emphasized that effective communication and teamwork were the key factors behind their success.

“The key is team communication. This competition requires excellent communication. Even a slight miscommunication could disrupt everything. So, teamwork and communication are crucial,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Arif Sahid Mustofa credited their success to the full support and guidance provided by The Department of Accounting, which included comprehensive preparation and resources for the competition. He also highlighted the real-world business management experience gained through the competition.

“We learned how to collaborate as a team. Additionally, we experienced firsthand what it’s like to play roles and manage a company through a game that allows us to compete in a broader market,” he said.

The team members expressed their hopes that future editions of the competition could be held on-site, allowing them to experience the genuine competitive atmosphere. Fauzan also encouraged more The Department of Accounting students to actively participate in such competitions.

“Since the competition is held online, many people underestimate it. However, based on alumni testimonials, this competition has a significant impact, especially in the professional world later on,” Fauzan concluded.
