Universitas Islam Indonesia

Currently, there are 3.100 private universities in Indonesia, but only 35 percent provide proper library. Many of small university and universities outside Java still do not have a proper library.

"Actually, the management of private universities aware of the importance of libraries as the heart of university," As told by UII Rector Prof. Dr. Edy Suandi Hamid, M.Ec., when gave his to statement to newspaper media, on Saturday (4/21).

Due to the lack of fund and weak leadership, private universities are incapable to provide proper library. In fact, library plays very significant role in promoting their students to obtain good education quality.  Commonly, proper library in private universities are supported with great building which make visitors comfortable. On the other hand, small privates’ universities only have small library building.

Rector said further that the existence of library in Universitas Islam Indonesia plays important role in leading UII toward World Class University. For this reason, UII build a magnificent library building called Moh. Hatta building. There are approximately 7000 book collections. And we try to always add the book collections in UII central library.
