The symposium featured international experts from Australia and United States of America. Ron Durkin, the keynote speaker of this symposium, came from California United States He, who was ex-FBI agent, is working as instructur at the FBI. The other speakers were Peter Hughes who is internal and forensic auditor in California and Wayne Lonergan, corporate and business valuations and loss assessment practitioners from Australia. In this occasion, UII Centre for Forensic Accounting Studies (CFAS) Director, Hendi Yogi Prabowo, SE, MForAcc, PhD got an opportunity to deliver presentation entitled “Credit Card Frauds in Indonesia and its Preventive Strategy.” In his explanation, he mentioned that consumer frauds crime is due at least in part to the growing of information technology. According to him, the perpetrator of consumer frauds using information technology to conduct criminal activity such as terrorism. In this case, proactive approach is needed to suppress the growing of consumer frauds in Indonesia by involving consumers, bank and financial institution, law enforcment as well as government to reduce crime opportunity related with the nation's financial payment systems. The last session of Forensic Accounting Symposium consisted of breakout discussion session to create a kind of organization or community for academicians and pracctitioners to develop forensic accounting studies. In addition, Dr. Hendi also met the entourage of Master of Forensic Accounting University of Wollongong Australia to discuss the collaboration opportunity between Indonesia-Australia to develop forensic accounting studies. |
