The few amount of scientific writing produced by Indonesian lecturers is caused by their low capability and motivation to publish scientific work in international journal. However, the competitive research funded by Directorate General of Higher Education (DIKTI) including Competitive Grants, National Strategic, Competence Research, Competitive Grant, Fundamental Research and Post-Graduate Grants requires research outcome in the form of scientific publications in international journal.

This fact insipred Directorate of Research and Community Service (DPPM) UII organizing annual workshop on international journal writing on June, 18-19 June 2012 at UII main campus. International publication is one of serious efforts to encourage lecturers and researchers to start publishing their research and scientific work in international journals.

Director of DPPM, Dr.-Ing. Ir. Widodo Brontowiyono, M.Sc. said that the aim of this training is to provide technical basic of scientific writing in international journals and to encourage lecturers and researcher in Indonesia to conduct research publications in international journals.

This training featured expert researchers as the speaker including Prof. Dr. Abdul Ghafar Ismail from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Dr. Agus Eng Setyo Muntohar (Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta), Dr. Is Fatimah (UII), and Ratna Roostika, Ph.D. (UPN). This event was participated by lecturers and researchers from both public and private universities as well as postgraduate students from all over Indonesia.
