UII Rector Inaugurates APTISI Board South Sumatra, Bangka Belitung

Rector of Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII), Prof. Dr. Edy Suandi Hamid, M.Ec. who also served as Chairman of Association of Private Univerities Indonesia (APTISI), inducted the board of APTISI Region II A South Sumatra and Bangka Belitung, period 2012 - 2016, on Saturday (23/6), at Hotel Swarna Dwipa, Jl. Taik No. 2, Palembang.

Also Attending in this event were Vice Governor of South Sumatra Eddy Yusuf, SH., MM, Mayor of Palembang Ir. H. Eddy Santana Putra, MT, Member of Regional Representatives Council (DPD) South Sumatra, Asmawati Marzuki Alie, SE, MM, Kopertis Coordinator for Region II Kopertis Prof. Dr. Diah Natalisa, MBA. and other university leaders.
In his speech Prof. Dr. Edy Suandi Hamid, conveyed that the position as the member of APTISI board not only due to trust and honor but also entails great responsibility.

From this reason, the new board should be able to carry out the task well for contributing to people, nation as well as the country that can be proven by improving the development of private universities in Indonesia particularly.
He said further that the APTISI member have to work together in adressing the current issues concerning APTISI interest . It aimed to realize the sustainable human resources development quality.

Private University Faced Global Development Challenges

Before the inauguration ceremony was held, Prof. UII. Dr. Edy Suandi Hamid, M.Ec. delivered a public lecture entitled ‘Strategy of Private Univerity to Confront Global Competition’ in front of postgraduate students of Universitas Tridinanti Palembang.

According to him, Indonesian private universities is now facing great challenges in line with global development. Previously, private university had only to deal with public university as the major challenge. However, in line with the global challege, nowadays public university have to confront with foreign university.

To face this issue, Prof. Dr. Edy Suandi Hamid revealed that Indonesian university are required to able to utilize information and communication technologies and establish mutual collaboration with various parties optimally by promoting university’s excellents.
