|UII Students Wins Arabic Debate Competition|

The Arabic debate team Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII) was awarded as the third winner on Arabic and Science Debate Competition hosted by Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) on Tuesday (7/10). The competition was held as the series event of 25th National Students Science Week (PIMNAS). In this event, Universitas Negeri Semarang (Unnes) named as the 1st winner and Universitas Malang (UM) became the runner up.
Struggling in the final session, UII team brought a theme entitled "Capital Punishment for Corruption". UII team stands on cons side in debate contest. In addition, UII involved two teams in this competition. However the second team could not enter the semifinal round. In the previous competition at Universitas Muslim Indonesia (UMI) Makassar, UII team awarded as runner up.
"We have made serious effort to enter the final round; unfortunately our team could be the first winner. We do hope that in future, we can obtain better achievment.” As said by Samsul Zakaria, Chairman of Arabic and English Community (AEC) FIAI UII.
The member of Arabic debate team were Hasan Al Antor and Samsul Zakaria (Team A), Priyo Sudibyo and Arsyad Haikal (Team B). Meanwhile, the member of English debate team were Rizkia Amelia Tsania, Chasna Atika and Muhammad Haykal Arkan. UII also sent Yopika Mutia Sandra, Amber Adhitya Asmara, Nurmala Pusfitasari, and Yoga Adesca Cahyadi to join PIMNAS competition.
