|PESTA 2012: Freshmen Ready to Inherit the Integrity of the UII Founding Father|

Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII), the oldest national university, was established by national figures who have high integrity in declaring Indonesia’s independence. They were Dr. Muhammad Hatta, KH. Abdul kahar Mudzakkir, Moh. Roem, KH. A. Wahid Hasyim, M. Natsir.
"Enrolled for study at Universitas Islam Indonesia, UII Freshmen have to be ready to inherit the spirit of integrity of the UII founding fathers.” Prof. Dr. Edy Suandi Hamid M.Ec, UII Rector, said in his opening speech.
Rector officially opened PESTA 2012 (UII Freshmen Orientation) upholding a theme ‘Membangun Paradigma Mahasiswa Melalui Internalisasi Nilai-nilai Keislaman Guna Mewujudkan Insan Berkarakter Ulil Albab (Building Student’s Paradigm Through Internalization of Islamic Values to Nurture Excellent Moslem Students) on Thursday (8/30), at UII main campus.
"In this occasion, I express my congratulation to you all who have successfully passed several selection processes entering UII. You have to wisely use this opportunity studying at UII in order to become outstanding Moslem scholars." Rector emphasized
Prof. Edy confirmed that there is no violation in new student orientation. "Violation and Anarchism are not allowed in this new student activity. But assertive discipline is important to be enforced.” He stressed out
Meanwhile, President of Student Executive Board (LEM) UII, M. Shadily Rumalutur, also said that the freshmen orientation is a moment to expand freshman’s horizon of UII campus and introduce student organization at UII. Through this activity, new students are expected to easily adapt with UII campus environment.
On the other hand, President of Students Legislative Board (DPM) UII, Mico Yuhansyah mentioned that being UII students, the freshmen are now carrying great responsibility to commit Catur Dharma (UII visions) in the fields of education, research, community services, and Da’wah Islamiyah. "Indonesia has been in the midst of a leadership crisis. Hence, we expect that UII graduates are able to take this challenge.” He added
